Protecting Your Fur Babies During a Move
There’s no doubt about it – our pets are members of our families. Whether you're partial to cats or dogs, moving with your fur babies isn’t always easy. But with a few simple steps, you can improve the journey to your new home for both you and your animals.
Local moving company, YouMoveMe.com, offers their top tips for moving with animals. Here are a few of their suggestions:
- If you can’t put your animal in a kennel on moving day, or have the pet stay with a friend, leave the animal in a quiet room away from all the activities and check on them often.
- Be sure to pack a travel kit for your pets with food, water, kitty litter (if needed), toys and grooming tools. This easily accessible kit should get you through at least the first 24 hours of your move (or longer) until you can unpack.
- Transport your pet in your vehicle, and be sure to keep them in their carrier until you get inside your new home. Remember, it’s a new environment for the animals, and you don’t want them to get scared, run off and get lost.

Once you move in, be sure to visit our Born to Run Dog Park so your pup ( and you ) can meet new friends!
