Longtime FishHawk Ranch Residents Find Encore a Perfect Fit
Sue Soto has been in love with her home in the Eagle Ridge neighborhood since the moment she stepped through the door 16 years ago. When she, her husband, Carlos, and their children moved to FishHawk Ranch from Wisconsin, there were still cows roaming on the undeveloped land. Piece by piece, she saw the vision of the community unfold – the nature trails, Central Park, and many of the other amenities that residents now enjoy.
The couple raised their children in Eagle Ridge, and have made lifetime memories in their home. They’ve enjoyed the sense of community that is at the heart of FishHawk Ranch. But with their children now grown, much of the couple’s 4,500 square-foot home goes unused.
A few years ago, Sue and Carlos started to think seriously about downsizing to a smaller home that was more inline with their current needs. Now retired, the couple looked at nearby 55+ communities in Tampa Bay, but nothing really fit their active, on-the-go lifestyle. And they wanted to remain close to all the friends and neighbors they’ve made in FishHawk Ranch.
When the couple heard about Encore at FishHawk Ranch, the newly developed age-qualified community for residents 55 and over, they knew they found exactly what they were looking for. They could downsize to a brand new, single story home without giving up any of the amenities they’ve become accustomed to, or the very special community feel they’ve grown accustomed to. And since Encore at FishHawk Ranch provides maintenance free living, the couple doesn’t have to worry about lawn care or the other upkeep that often comes with homeownership. When they travel to see their children and grandchildren, they can just lock up their home, knowing that everything else will be taken care of.
“I think it’s perfect,” said Sue of her Encore home, which is currently under construction. “I can still walk on the trails, and see all of my friends. Even though it’s a 55+ plus neighborhood, you know you’re part of a bigger community.”
Sue was excited to select the floor plan that was just right for her and her husband, and she’s thrilled about the large kitchen and entertaining spaces, which will be perfect for when their family gathers together at the holidays. She was also impressed with the attention to details given in the home design, such as wider doorways and customized fixtures in the kitchen and bath.
“The whole process has been great so far,” she said.
Although it will be a few months before the couple’s new home is ready for them to move in, they already feel at home in the Encore community. They visit the Oasis Club, a well-appointed clubhouse that is for Encore residents’ exclusive use, often and have met several of their soon-to-be neighbors. With an activities director already on staff, the couple has taken part in planned events such as BBQ’s and dinners.
For the Soto’s their decision to move to Encore gives them the best of both worlds. Stress-free homeownership with the true sense of community they’ve only found at FishHawk Ranch.
