David Weekley Launches Encore Homes for 55+ Buyers
David Weekley Homes, the nation’s largest privately-held builder, is excited to announce its launch into the active adult market with Encore by David Weekley Homes at FishHawk Ranch, a Newland Community. Located in master-planned FishHawk Ranch southeast of Tampa in Lithia, FL, the age-restricted Encore features one-story homes and The Oasis, a 5,000-square foot amenity center developed by Weekley Homes. Encore is the first age-qualified community for the builder.
“We’re very excited to launch Encore, our new line of homes for those 55+,” said David Weekley, Chairman of David Weekley Homes. “Many of our current homebuyers already fit within this demographic, so it was a natural fit for us to develop Encore with the beautifully open, single-level floor plans that these customers are asking for. Encore homes will make a great addition to the FishHawk Ranch community, where we have built 675 homes since the late 1990s.”
Encore at FishHawk Ranch offers three series of homes: Classic, Signature and Tradition, ranging in size from 1,600 to 2,600 square feet, with five fully-furnished model homes currently under construction. This new line of homes features a lifestyle-driven approach to home design with ample customization options and in communities that are built to encourage neighborly get-togethers.
“Encore represents an exciting new concept for David Weekley Homes and we’re thrilled to partner with them and launch it in FishHawk Ranch,” said Pam Parisi, Regional Marketing Director at Newland Communities. “Encore is perfect for a variety of homebuyers, including those who are looking for a strong sense of community, or who want to be close to family members but still want to enjoy the independent lifestyle they’ve become accustomed to in a home of their own home.”
These low-maintenance homes are designed to complement the active and social lifestyles this buyer is looking for with large, open living spaces and expanded outdoor living areas with summer kitchens to bring the outside in, said Steve Ebensberger, Executive Vice President for David Weekley Homes.
“Encore is a charming, boutique section of FishHawk Ranch that will feature 240 homes,” Ebensberger said. “Encore benefits from being in the middle of town and in a very well-known community that boasts a lot of the outdoor recreation our 55+ buyers want, like miles of hiking and biking trails, yet still being convenient to Sarasota, Tampa and great local beaches.”
The 5,000-square-foot amenity center, The Oasis, is exclusively for Encore residents and will have a dedicated, full-time lifestyle director to develop day-to-day activities and social events.
“Our Baby Boomers are looking to right-size their home life, but not their everyday lives,” Ebensberger said. “They want their community to match their active lifestyle, which is why we built The Oasis, which features bocce and pickle ball courts, a high-end fitness room, resort-style pool and an entertainment room with a bar, catering space and large TV for hosting parties.”
David Weekley’s foray into the active adult market coincides with a growing change in housing desires from the nearly 76 million Baby Boomer population, said Helen Foster, owner of Foster Strategy, LLC, an active adult expert who worked with Weekley to develop Encore.
“Boomers have more economic flexibility than younger buyers, and their home preferences are changing dramatically,” Foster said. “As work pressures ease and children grow up and move on, there is also a newfound sense of freedom. Along with amenities and programming that support an active lifestyle, Boomers want to reside near urban locations, restaurants and retail, cultural attractions and family.”
The five model homes and The Oasis at Encore at FishHawk Ranch by David Weekley Homes will open to the public on Friday, February 19. For more information about Encore at FishHawk Ranch, contact 866-493-3553.
