FishHawk Ranch and Waterset Concerts for a Cause Series Nets Thousands in Donations and Meals
Hundreds of concertgoers who attended this season’s Concerts for a Cause series at FishHawk Ranch and Waterset, helped make a difference in the fight against hunger in our community.
FishHawk Ranch and Waterset are owned in a joint venture partnership between NORTH AMERICA SEKISUI HOUSE, LLC (NASH), the U.S. business unit and full subsidiary of SEKISUI HOUSE, LTD., Japan’s largest homebuilder and leading diversified developer, and Newland Real Estate Group, LLC, whose development business, Newland Communities, is the master developer of the community. They are two of more than 30 communities the NASH-Newland partnership owns together in 11 states across the United States.
Concertgoers donated enough non-perishable food items and cash donations at the six concerts to provide a total of 19,285 meals to area families who struggle with food instability. Three concerts were held at each community during September and October 2015.
To mark the fifth anniversary of Concerts for a Cause at FishHawk Ranch the community selected Lithia-based, Seeds of Hope, as the beneficiary of donations. The non-profit organization founded by FishHawk Ranch resident Leda Eaton, offers a food pantry for the surrounding areas of Lithia, Brandon and Valrico and also supplies weekend backpacks of food for low-income school children.
“We love the support for Seeds of Hope’s local food relief efforts through donations at Newland Communities’ Concerts for a Cause,” said Eaton. “It’s always heartwarming to see the food we receive at the concerts filling boxes of food each week for people in need.”
Donations collected during concerts at Waterset will be distributed to Feeding Tampa Bay, the area’s leading food bank, which provides food to more than 700,000 people in a 10-county area of West Florida, including Hillsborough County.
“We are always thankful for the enormous generosity of our residents,” said Pam Parisi, director of marketing for Newland Communities. “The donations raised will help feed people in our own community who go hungry or who aren’t sure when they will have their next meal.”
“When communities come together to help communities, we build a stronger foundation for the future,” said Thomas Mantz, executive director of Feeding Tampa Bay. “We are grateful for partnerships like the one with Waterset’s Concerts for a Cause which are a prime example of the great impact that can be reached when we take care of our hungry neighbors right here in the Tampa Bay area.”
The concerts and Fall Festivals were free of charge to the general public. In lieu of an admissions fee, participants were asked to bring nonperishable donations.
